The Gold Mine Effect: Crack the Secrets of High Performance

How can we identify and develop talent, both in ourselves and in others?

I know that a lot of Kenyan children are going to their school by running at 10-20km distance everyday in the high altitude area. That's why a lot of elite runners are emerging in this country. So as Brazilian street football boys. But not all children won the gold medal. There are some rules which are called eight Gold Mine rules by the author.

Uhmm, really interesting.

Fo example, there is a "10,000 hours rule",which says that if you want to be a super elite in any area, your training hours should be exceeded 10,000 hours during your early age within ten years. It means two hours and forty four minitues training everyday. The author says that it is applicable to the business elites. I agree that the first ten years learning after garduating the college is really crutial to the success in the company.

【Synopsis】

We all want to discover our unique talents and make an impact with them. But how? Rasmus Ankersen, an ex footballer and performance specialist, quit his job, spent his last pennies booking flight tickets and for six intense months traveled the world and literally trained and lived with the world's best athletes and their coaches in an attempt to answer this very question. Why have the world's best middle distance runners grown up in the same Ethiopian village? Why are 137 of the world's 500 best female golfers from South Korea? How did one athletic club in Kingston, Jamaica, succeed to produce most of the world's best sprinters? What is the secret behind Brazil's mass production of soccer super stars?

In The Gold Mine Effect Ankersen presents his surprising conclusions in seven lessons on how anyone - or any business, organization or team - can defy the many misconceptions of high performance and learn to build their own gold mine of real talent.
