今日は、JCCI（シンガポール商工会議所）の40周年記念で、Lee Kuan Yewを招いてDialogがありましたのでいってきました。しかし、彼は元気ですよね。もう85歳にもなるのに、しっかりと意見を述べます。なんでも、毎週、ジョッギングをしているそうです。見習わなければいけませんね。
最近、シンガポールに来て、特に、日本人の国際化の遅れを強く感じます。言葉の問題もそうですが、今後、高齢化が深刻になって、海外から労働者を受け入れるときに、ちゃんとした社会を作れるか相当疑問です。
Lee also commented on Japanese culture's high regard for older people, which prevents younger leaders from moving up, and contrasted it with China's drive to install "youngsters" in positions of power. "The seniority culture is a very deep-seated one. It will not change easily. That's the problem with the Japanese political leadership," he said.Japan's Prime Minister Yukio Hatoyama said on the sidelines of an Asia-Pacific summit in Singapore in November that his country should make itself more attractive to migrants, not just tourists. Japan has some of the world's strictest controls on immigration, and Hatoyama admitted that he was broaching a "sensitive issue".But he said that as well as introducing pro-family policies, Japan should attempt to encourage foreigners to live and work in the country.
