Marina Bay [A1.
My running home course is the road alongside of Singapore river through Robertson and Clark quay which is five km distance. I usually do two round to make it ten km.
Recently I found this route has connected towards Marina Bay. My home course expand there and become ten km distance as one round. The route alongside Marina Bay is quite nice and modern. I enjoy the urban running life.
Lo-hei [D1.
We had annual Div chinese new year party and celebrated taking Lo-hei.
According to wikipedia, Yusheng, yee sang or yuu sahng (Chinese: 鱼生; pinyin: yúshēng; Pe̍h-ōe-jī: hî-seⁿ or hû-siⁿ), or Prosperity Toss, also known as lo hei (Cantonese for 撈起 or 捞起) is a Teochew-style raw fish salad. It usually consists of strips of raw fish (most commonly salmon), mixed with shredded vegetables and a variety of sauces and condiments, among other ingredients. Yusheng literally means "raw fish" but since "fish (鱼)" is commonly conflated with its homophone "abundance (余)", Yúshēng (鱼生) is interpreted as a homophone for Yúshēng (余升) meaning an increase in abundance. Therefore, yusheng is considered a symbol of abundance, prosperity and vigor.
While versions of it are thought to have existed in China, the contemporary version is created and popularised in the 1960s amongst the ethnic Chinese community and its consumption has been associated with Chinese New Year festivities in Singapore as well as in neighbouring Malaysia. In Singapore, government, community and business leaders often take the lead in serving the dish as part of official functions during the festive period or in private celebrity dinners.

Chinese New Year [D1.
(Gōngxǐ fācái!) I wish You Great Prosperity!
Happy New Year of the Dragon!
This morning, we were all happily entertained by the brightly colored lions which bowed and danced in our office to the crashing of the cymbals and the beating of the drums. In fact, it was my first up close and personal experience with the Chinese lion dance and I certainly found it very interesting.

あるレジ打ちの女性/ A story about a cashier [人事4-キャリアプラン]
http://1minute.raindrop.jp/?p=5100
This is a story about a lady who always gives up easily when faced with challenge.
When she was studying in university, she would frequently change her extra curriculum activities as she was unable to persistently pursue any particular interest. Upon graduation from university, she began to look for a job. She started off by working for a manufacturing company but called it a quit within three months as she had some conflicts with her boss. Subsequently, she joined a logistics company but quit again within half a year as the job scope was simply too different from her expectation. She soon moved on to an administrative job in a medical company. But she again claimed, “This is not what I wanted…” and quit from the company. As a result of her job hopping, she had a long list of past employers on her resume and so no company was willing to offer her a full time job. However, she knew that her job search had to continue as she needed to make a living. Although her parents were ready to welcome her back to their hometown, she stubbornly declined as she did not want to be seen as a failure. She decided to register with a recruitment agency and they did find her some jobs. However, she continued to have conflicts with colleagues and soon quit her job whenever she couldn’t put up with it. As a consequence, the list of past employers in her resume became even longer. One day, the recruitment agency called her up again to offer her another new job as a cashier at a supermarket. At that time, product bar code was not yet in existence. A cashier had to input prices into the cash register and so good typing skill was essential. One week later, she got used to being a cashier but soon became bored of it. She began asking herself, “Why am I doing such a simple and boring job?” On the other hand, she was getting frustrated with herself for being impatient and her inability to stabilize her career. As much as she knew that she had to persevere to overcome her problem, she could not get down to doing it. As before, she had her letter prepared but this time round, she hesitated in tendering her resignation. Coincidentally, she received a call from her mother. “Why don’t you come back home?” asked her mum tenderly. That call changed her mind of staying in Tokyo but to return to her hometown. Given her long stay in Tokyo, there was a lot of stuff to pack. While clearing her desk drawer, she found a notebook. It was her memorable childhood diary! As she flipped through the diary excitedly, she stumbled upon a page with “I want to be a pianist.” written on it. That was her dream while she was in high school. She recalled practising very hard as piano playing was the only interest that she pursued relentlessly. Unfortunately, she still gave up her dream of becoming a pianist in the end. As she stared at her diary, reminiscing the time when she was enthusiastically pursuing her dream, she began to reflect and felt regretful about her present life. “I used to be so enthusiastic at pursuing my ambition but look at what’s happening to me now? It’s my fault that the list of past employers is so long on my resume. I’m feeling so miserable, especially now that I’m about to leave another company again…” She closed her diary and rang up her mother, speaking in tears, “Mom, I want to challenge myself once again.” She tore up the resignation letter and went on to work at the supermarket - that simple and boring cashier job, the next day. A couple of days later, it dawned on her that… “While practising piano, I used to make mistakes repeatedly but after many practices, my fingers could naturally pressed the correct key even though my eyes were at the score” She then thought to herself, “I can also master my typing skill on the cash register in my own way!” As there are many buttons on a cash register, she tried to remember the button layout first before proceeding to practise. She tried typing on the cash register as if she was playing a piano. Within a week, her typing speed on the cash register was much improved. In the past, she could only keep her eyes on the cash register but now, her new skill had enabled her to also take notice of other areas, much to her surprise. She began observing the customers who came into the store and thought to herself, “Oh, that customer was at the store yesterday too.” “Hmmm…more customers with children come to the store at this timing…” That became really fun for her privately. While she typed away on the cash register like a pianist, she closely watched the customers and observed their buying behavior - “She mainly buys at promotional price.” “He always comes to the store just before it is about to close.” “She buys only expensive items.”One day, an old lady who always buys groceries at discounted price came to the cashier counter with a gorgeous fish. She was surprised and could not help asking, “What are you celebrating?” The old lady smiled and replied, “My grandchild won a prize in the swimming contest and so we are going to have a celebration. Fresh fish, isn’t it? “ “That’s great. Congratulations!” Instinctively, she said those congratulatory words. That was indeed the first time she enjoyed the experience of interacting with customers and it triggered her to become more proactive in serving the customers thereafter. And gradually, she was able to remember the customers and even their names. She would sometimes suggest, “Ms. Smith, do you want to buy chocolate today? We have chocolate promotions over there.” “Instead of tuna, do you want to buy salmon which is really fresh today?” The customers were all happy with her suggestions. “Sounds good, let me give that chocolate a try” customers replied. She started to interact with customers and gradually enjoyed her job. One day, while she was enjoying her conversation with customers at her counter, she suddenly heard an in-store announcement that went, “We apologize for keeping you waiting at the queue today. Please move to other cashier counters with shorter queues.” Not long after, she heard the in-store announcement again. “We apologize for keeping you waiting at the queue today. Please move to other cashier counters with shorter queues.” When the in-store announcement came on the third time, she became curious and began looking around. To her great surprise, there was no queue at the other five cashier counters. All customers were patiently queuing up at hers! The store supervisor even rushed to the queue and patiently said, “Dear customers, please proceed to other cashier counters.” One customer immediately replied, “Don’t worry as we are not here to just do shopping. We are here to chat with this cashier. I’m happy to wait in the queue.” She felt so touched upon hearing it that she burst into tears. Another customer also said to the store supervisor, “Yeah, I’m also here to chat with this cashier. While I can easily find promotions at some other stores, I can’t find a cashier as friendly and helpful as her. So please let me queue here.” She was so touched that she couldn’t get back to work. She finally realized what a wonderful job she has! She immediately became a changed person at work and was soon promoted to become the cashier team’s chief, responsible for training new staff. I’m sure those new staff whom she trained will certainly enjoy interacting with customers and are always thinking, what a wonderful job they have!
chineese new year eve

選択の科学 The Art of Choosing [D3.

Normally I run without any music devices because I like to think a various things during my run, however today I tried to run with my WALKMAN-NWZ-W252 which was kept on my closet for long time. Uhmm, I felt my adrenalin came out. Yes, I have to strengthen my right brain in this year. Music might be a solution for me to run everyday as a usual exercise.
